Portals to Include Stunning Livestream of Earth from Space

portals.org announces groundbreaking partnership with Sen, a space media company that provides high-quality video streams from space. This collaboration will introduce breathtaking real-time views of planet Earth from space to the Portals in Dublin, Lublin, Vilnius, and future Portal locations.

A Shared Vision of Unity

Portals are technology sculptures that act as windows between faraway places, inviting people to meet above borders and differences. In line with this vision of connectivity, Sen aims to democratize space by providing high-definition video from cameras in orbit, offering a new perspective of our world. Through this partnership, Portals will include a real-time view of Earth from space, allowing people to witness our planet as a single entity and reflect on our shared humanity.

“The perspective of our home planet from space has always been an inspiration for Portals. Seeing Earth as it truly is—a single entity where everything is connected—inspires a sense of unity that is core to the Portals mission,” said Benediktas Gylys, artist and founder of portals.org. “We are excited to partner with Sen to bring this experience to the Portals.”

“Sen and Portals share a common theme in that we are connecting people—Portals connect people in different places on Earth, and Sen connects people with space.” said Charles Black, founder and CEO of Sen. “Together, we’re creating something truly unique.”

Expanding the Portals Experience

With billions of online impressions and hundreds of thousands of onsite visitors, Portals have emerged as a groundbreaking global artwork, known for connecting the cities of Dublin, NYC, Vilnius, and Lublin. As the network of sculptures enters its next chapter, significant developments are underway.

The Portals network now includes a rotation that connects all existing and future Portal locations on Earth, with the livestream rotating every three minutes. As part of this rotation, a stunning real-time view of Earth from space, provided by Sen, will offer a window on our home planet from space.

Starting on September 3rd, Portals will initially display recorded footage of planet Earth from space. Dedicated cameras providing a real-time livestream to the Portals will be activated in the coming weeks.

“The addition of a live feed from space is an exciting first for Dublin  and underlies Portal’s role in fostering a sense of global interconnectedness. We look forward to seeing how visitors to the Portal react to this unique perspective of the world!" said Jamie Cudden, Smart City Lead at Dublin City Council.
